Why Incontro Exists & My Story Behind It

If you’ve ever felt like all the fun, interesting events happen in London while the rest of us in Hertfordshire are left scrolling and wishing — you’re not alone. That’s exactly how I felt, and it’s why I started Incontro.

“Incontro” is the Italian word for “encounter” or “meeting.” And that’s really the heart of what this is about: creating those natural, genuine moments where you meet people in real life, whether that’s for dating, friendships, or simply widening your circle.

The Why

In your 30s and 40s, making new connections isn’t as simple as it used to be. Friends move away, settle down, or become busy with families. Suddenly, meeting new people outside of work or dating apps feels like climbing a mountain.

But I knew it didn’t have to be this way.
I wanted to build something local, something exciting, and something that makes it easy again. No pressure, no swiping, no ghosting — just real people coming together in welcoming spaces.

My Story

I’ve always loved bringing people together. Whether it was planning dinners, organising trips, or introducing friends to each other, I thrived on connection. But living in Hertfordshire, I found myself frustrated: if I wanted to go to a supper club, a cool mixer, or a fun social event, I’d have to trek into London.

I wanted those experiences here — in St Albans, Watford, Bushey, Berkhamsted, and across Hertfordshire, where people like us actually live and work.

And so, Incontro was born.

Because life’s too short to wait for the right people to stumble into your path. Sometimes, you need to create the space for them. And that’s exactly what I’m doing with Incontro.
